What is the career progression like at Codemasters?

Many of the Programmers, Designers and Artists have started out at Junior entry level and have progressed to lead teams in their studios. Codemasters encourages its staff with opportunities and we motivate employees to take ownership of their work and not to be overly restrictive. So if we have a talented employee who has potential then will give them the chance to make their mark and progress their skills and career.

What's the recruitment process at Codemasters?

The process is quite straightforward. Once we receive the CV and the hiring manager wants to progress further, then the first stage would be a Skype/Telephone conversation, which is an opportunity for both sides to ask preliminary questions about the Job, and to know more about what’s on offer in terms of the position and the area they may be moving to, and we like to talk through their experience at a personal level. If applying for a more technical role then there maybe an online test to complete before the face to face meeting.

The next stage would be to invite the candidate to our studios to get a feel for the company, the team and the area they will be moving to/working in. It’s a chance to see if they'll enjoy the work and personally fit the studio culture.

What should applicants do with their CV to get an interview at Codemasters?

Keep the information succinct, relevant and honest – Detail your most relevant skills for the position, demonstrate your passion for the gaming industry, and it’s important to show your personality as those reviewing your CV want someone who’s a good fit for the team. If applying for creative roles in Design or Art it would be highly desirable to include portfolio or showreel links to work.

Is it worth applying for Jobs if I have no experience and want to get into the games Industry?

Yes, we all have to start somewhere and if you can prove yourself to be flexible and adaptable then please submit your details.

Is it worth sending my details through even if no relevant role is available?

The answer is yes, although there maybe no suitable role available, that can change quickly. There have been instances where we have contacted applicants who applied speculatively previously and have been successful in securing a role.

How long will my application to Codemasters take?

Once we receive your application we will make every endeavour to get back to you individually as soon as possible, however if you don’t hear back from us within 14 days then please assume you have been unsuccessful on this occasion and that we will keep your details on file for six months incase any suitable vacancies arise.
