Nissan Silvia S15

Nissan has a proud heritage of building Rear-wheel-drive (RWD) sportscars that dates back to the early 1960s – and these cars have always found a welcome audience among fans of affordable speed and great handling – more so as the majority of cars produced have moved to front-wheel-drive (FWD) for reasons of packaging. For drifting, though, RWD, (or 4WD) is a must (you can kick the tail out on a FWD car, but it’s not really drifting).

The S15 silvia was launched in 1999, and built up to 2002. it is, to date, the last model to bear the “silvia” name, the model line having been rested in 2002 after the launch of the 350Z. In stock trim, the car put out approximately 250 bhp in it’s highest-spec models. Unlike the previous models, which were sold world-wide, the S15 was only sold in Japan and Australia, though many found their way into the western hemisphere as unofficial imports.

GRID’s S15 is built for drifting, with a tuned SR20DET inline-4 engine putting out 430bhp, and Drift-specific chassis tuning – GRID’s drifting modes use all the same physics code as the other modes, just as it should- the drift-happy handling of the car is created by the same way as it happens in real life – expert tuning.
